Shadow health minister Lord McColl paid by private health firm

The Conservative Party faced further embarrassment today after it was revealed shadow health minister Lord McColl is a paid consultant to a private health company that competes directly with the NHS.

Lord McColl is currently on the books for Endeavour Health, claims the Times newspaper, a company set up by two hedge fund advisers which claims to be Britain’s first comprehensive private GP network.

The shadow health minister’s involvement with a private healthcare provider highlights the divisions within the party over the NHS.

David Cameron has already been forced to reiterate his commitment to the NHS after the comments made by MEP Daniel Hannan, who claimed the NHS was “A 60 year mistake” that he “wouldn’t wish on anyone”.
