Care UK chief executive Mike Parish has been voted the most influential leader in the independent healthcare sector at the HealthInvestor Power 50 awards.
Actor Brian Blessed counted down the top 15 movers and shakers in the industry to a packed audience at Shakespeare’s Underglobe on Thursday 28 November.
The list, voted for by HealthInvestor readers, included other notable figures in the sector such as HC-One chairman Chai Patel and Ramsay Health Care chief executive Jill Watts.
Under Parish’s leadership in the past year, Care UK has acquired Harmoni and UK Specialist Hospitals, as well as inking a £60 million deal to transfer 16 local authority care homes and eight wellbeing centres into the business.
The Power 50 also recognised the healthcare sector’s most influential investor and lender. Sovereign Capital’s Dominic Dalli won the title of most influential investor, while Barclay’s Paul Birley claimed the award for most influential lender.
The awards also saw the presentation of the inaugural Zolfo Cooper Growth Company Award. This prize recognises the top 25 independent healthcare companies that have shown the strongest reported financial performance over a three-year period. The Injury Care Clinics became the first winners.
HealthInvestor is now firmly established as the definitive publication for professionals advising, investing or operating within the health sector.
