Capita has acquired patient management firm Clinical Solutions for £20 million.
Clinical Solutions offers technology which, it says, has been used to triage and manage over 70 million clinical calls over the past 10 years. It aims to reduce the cost of emergency care by directing non-urgent patients to local health support.
The deal, on a cash-free, debt-free basis, comes just over a week after Capita acquired medical screening provider Medicals Direct Holdings for £13.2 million
Capita said the Clinical Solutions acquisition would add “further depth and breadth” to its services for the NHS.
Paul Pindar, chief executive of Capita, said: “It will add important new expertise to Capita’s range of health services, enabling us to offer Clinical Solutions’ products and services to the 95% of NHS organisations Capita already has a relationship with, and other care providers.”
Clinical Solutions made an operating profit for its financial year to 31 December 2011 of £6.5 million on turnover of £24.2 million. It has around 160 staff, primarily based in Basingstoke.
