Viapath restructures

Viapath, a clinical pathology company, has announced that it is to restructure into three separate branches: Viapath Group, Viapath Analytics and Viapath Services.

Viapath Group will set the firm’s business strategy while the analytics and services branches will deliver laboratory services and infrastructure management respectively.

Founded in 2009 as GSTS Pathology, the company was formed as a joint venture between Guy's & St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and the outsourcing firm Serco.

Bedford Hospital and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust subsequently joined forces with GSTS and Serco in 2009 and 2010 respectively. In May 2014 the company rebranded from GSTS Pathology to Viapath.

In light of the restructuring, staff working for Viapath at Guy's & St Thomas' and Kings College Hospital will now work under Viapath directly.

Company chief executive Richard Jones (pictured) commented that this was an “important step” for Viapath because it would bring “all staff under one organisation”.
