HealthInvestor readers vote Pete Calveley ‘most influential’ leader at Power Fifty ceremony

Four Seasons Health Care’s chief executive Pete Calveley was last week named as the most influential leader in the independent health sector at the HealthInvestor Power Fifty countdown.
Calveley, who was one of the principal architects of the Southern Cross restructuring, edged ahead of Barchester Healthcare boss Mike Parsons to take the top spot in the annual list of the independent health sector’s biggest movers and shakers.
In front of a packed audience at the Millennium Hotel, Mayfair, Radio Four’s James Naughtie counted down the top 15 leaders, as voted for by HealthInvestor readers, in a list that included sector giants such as Care UK’s Mike Parish, HC One’s Chai Patel and Ramsay Health Care’s Jill Watts.
Readers felt that despite the challenges facing Four Seasons and the sector as a whole, Calveley had “consistently demonstrated such strong leadership and skill that he has been able to rapidly expand and grow his business”. Although he has spent a considerable amount of time in refinancing talks since taking over as chief executive at the indebted care group, readers also praised Pete for “continually promoting excellence in healthcare delivery”.
The event also recognised the health sector’s most influential adviser, lender and investor.
McKinsey’s Penny Dash was the highest placed advisor, with Lloyds TSB’s Ian Crompton named as the sector’s most influential lender. August Equity’s Aatif Hassan was voted the most influential investor.
