Lifeways buys Autism Care UK

Lifeways Group has acquired Autism Care UK from Maria Mallaband Care Group (MMCG), for an undisclosed sum.

Autism Care UK provides supported living, outreach and day services for people with autism in Lincolnshire, Lancashire, Milton Keynes, Northumberland, South Warwickshire and Yorkshire.

According to filings made at Companies House, Autism Care UK made a profit of £659,789 and had a turnover of £8.5 million for the year ended 30 April 2014. This is compared to a profit of £530,726 and a turnover of £8.1 million for the previous financial year.

Lifeways and MMCG declined to comment.

The deal follows the sale of 20 MMCG homes for $127 million (£75.8 million) to US REIT HCP in a sale and leaseback arrangement last August.

MMCG provides residential, nursing, dementia and disability care services from over 60 facilities.

Lifeways, which was bought by OMERS Private Equity for £210 million in 2012, provides supported living services for adults with learning disabilities.
