Bupa Dental Care is to pause its dental acquisition activity in the UK for the foreseeable future.

The company said it will now focus investment in its existing practice network, its refurbishments programme and technology capabilities. Though it has paused acquisition, Bupa will continue to attract and retain dental staff.

The decision was taken at the beginning of this month and is not related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokeswoman for Bupa Dental Care said: “We have a fantastic network of practices and in line with our strategy, we have established a national footprint, and are now a leading provider of private dentistry in the UK and Republic of Ireland. We continue to see strong growth in demand for dental services, and in our dental insurance business.”

She added: “Our number one priority is on patient care; therefore, we have decided to pause our dental acquisition activity in the UK for the time being.”
