The Scheinberg Relief Fund has donated £500,000 to the Care Workers’ Charity Emergency Coronavirus Fund.

The donation is from the $50m fund established by the Scheinberg family to support organisations and initiatives that are tackling the direct impact of the virus and will be used to provide emergency grants of up to £2,000 to individual care workers facing financial hardship due to self-isolating or shielding.

Karolina Gerlich, executive director at the Care Workers’ Charity says: “Many of our care workers are making many personal sacrifices. They are putting their health and lives at risk, and many have had to shield or self-isolate because of it, or have contracted the virus themselves. More than ever it is essential we support care workers during this difficult time and ensure that they do not go hungry or fall into debt and poverty because they are following the official guidelines.”
